How does it work ? |
LOC8 is a directory based utility using the Short Message Service (SMS) capabilities of most mobile on the market today.
Simply enter what your looking for and where to look into a mobile device and send the message to 5628 If there is a match in the database, then a message will be sent straight back to you with a list of vendors offering what your looking for, along with their phone numbers.
LOC8 in action
A great use of the LOC8 system is searching and booking a taxi in a town your not familiar with when having to travel. Instead of being met with a sea of different taxi companies, simply use the LOC8 service to find a reputable firm and book them over the phone before you depart.
For example, when travelling to Auckland, send the message 'taxi.auckland' to 5628 and receive a list of taxi firms.
When you arrive at you destination, you know there will be a cab waiting for you with your name on it !
The service is FREE for users on the Vodafone and Telecom networks.
